Functional Outcome of Expert Tibial Intramedulary Nailing For Metaphyseal And Diaphyseal Fractures of Tibia

چکیده
Introduction : In the field of trauma surgery, fractures of the leg remain the injuries with a higher complication rate. The optimum treatment for fractures of the tibia remains controversial. When the aim is stable fixation with early restoration of function without use of plaster, intramedullary nailing offers an attractive treatment option.Newer tibial nail designs has widened the range of indications for medullary osteosynthesis to include almost every type of fracture. This study was done to evaluate the outcome of use of expert tibial nail in metaphyseal and diaphyseal fractures of tibia. Materials and methods:This study was conducted on 20 skeletally mature patients with metaphyseal or diaphyseal fractures of the tibia treated with Expert Tibial Nail which is having advanced proximal and distal locking options. Results: Functional results were evaluated as Excellent, Good, Fair, and Poor on the basis of Johner R, Wruhs SD criteria. Out of 20 patients 14 (70%) patients had excellent results as they had full function as pretrauma without any residual symptoms. 3 patients (15%) had good results, 2 (10%) patients had fair results and 1 (5%) patient had poor results. Conclusion: Our results with expert tibial interlocking nailing are encouraging and demonstrate the benefits of new nailing system. We recommend the use of expert tibial nail in metaphyseal and diaphyseal fractures of

Assessment of the treatment outcome of closed extra-articular distal tibia fracture: IM nailing vs plating
Abstract Background: The tibial diaphyseal fractures are the most common type of long bone fractures encountered by most orthopedic surgeons. In accordance with descriptive indices of tibia fractures on the basis of their location in the bone, distal tibia fractures have the second incidence of all tibia fractures after the middle tibia fractures. The purpose of the study was to asses...
متن کاملTreatment of Diaphysio-Metaphyseal Fracture of Tibia by Intramedullary Nail in Combination with Poller Screw
It is known fact that proximal and distal fractures of tibia tend to angulate into varus when treated with intramedullary nails or functional braces. Proximal fractures of tibia tend to angulate into anterior bowing when fixed with nail when fibula is intact. Intramedullary nailing for metaphyseal tibial fractures with short proximal and distal fragment is associated with frontal and sagittal p...
متن کاملOutcome of Diaphyseal Fracture of Tibia Treated with Flexible Intramedullary Nailing in Pediatrics Age Group; A Prospective Study
Fracture of Tibia is the most common amongst pediatric fractures. Most tibial shaft fractures are treated conservatively with close reduction and above knee cast application. Surgery is indicated only when the fracture is unstable, open fracture and associated with multiple injuries. Flexible intramedullary nailing is commonly used for diaphyseal tibial fracture and is also well used in other l...
متن کاملOutcome of Distal Both Bone Leg Fractures Fixed by Intramedulary Nail for Fibula & MIPPO in Tibia
Background: Fractures of the distal third of the tibia are mostly associated with a fibular fracture that often requires fixation. The preferred treatment of distal tibial fracture is the minimally invasive percutaneous plate osteosynthesis (MIPPO) procedure. However, there are no clear cut guidelines on fixation of the fibular fracture and currently most orthopedic surgeons use a plate osteo...
متن کاملDistal Tibial Metaphyseal Fractures: Does Blocking Screw Extend the Indication of Intramedullary Nailing?
Aim. To evaluate the clinical use of blocking screws as a supplement to stability in distal tibial metaphyseal fractures treated with statically locked intramedullary nail. Main Outcome Measurement. Alignment and reduction preoperatively, postoperatively, and at healing were the main outcome measured with an emphasis on maintenance of initial reduction on followup. Patients and Methods. This wa...
